Welcome to this week's Solar Robotics Newsletter, produced by Straylight Ventures, where we cover the latest in robotics, automation, and AI transforming utility-scale solar. This week: the 2026 Solar Robotics Report is out, LEAPTING picks up an award in Saudi Arabia, Built Robotics sets up a test site in Western Australia, and SUNPURE reports installation numbers from Uzbekistan.
π ResearchStraylight Ventures Releases the 2026 Solar Robotics ReportStraylight Ventures has released its 2026 Solar Robotics Report, the second annual edition. It profiles 85 companies deploying solar robotics across every project phrase, from construction through operations, nearly double the number profiled last year. New in this edition: 193 documented deployment sites across 29 companies, patent holdings for every profiled company, key personnel, and 25 charts covering installations, costs, labor and funding. Launch pricing applies through October 10. β Get the 2026 Solar Robotics Reportβ π Industry RecognitionLEAPTING Named RE Robotics Technology Leader in Saudi ArabiaLEAPTING won the RE Robotics Technology Leader Award at the Solarabic Saudi Arabia Awards 2026 in Riyadh. The company says its Middle East work spans robotic module installation and autonomous material handling, with connected robotic operations as the next area of opportunity. β Read LEAPTING's article on the awardβ π Testing & ValidationBuilt Robotics Operational at Australian Test Precinct in 10 DaysBuilt Robotics went from first contact to fully operational at the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP) in 10 days. The company needed testing and demonstration space for its Western Australia project. "The AARP was exactly what we needed for testing construction robots," said Paul Kelly, GM Australia and Global VP Business Development at Built Robotics. According to the AARP, setting up an equivalent test yard independently usually takes two to three months. The site gives Built Robotics a place to demonstrate its robots to clients before deployment. β Read the full storyβ ποΈ Construction & DeploymentSUNPURE More Than Doubles Daily Module Installation in UzbekistanSUNPURE profiled Chen Lian of its module installation delivery team in Uzbekistan. Over nearly three months on site, he worked through machine performance, workflow, local team coordination, and construction conditions. Daily installation output rose from 300 modules to a stable 720. SUNPURE attributes the gain to dozens of small fixes rather than a single change. π‘ Remote OperationsVector Machines Mows a Croatian Solar Park, Monitored From the NetherlandsVector Machines showed one of its autonomous Vector robots mowing tall, dry vegetation in narrow rows beneath the panels at a Croatian solar park, with no crew on site. Operators follow each robot live through the company's portal, with onboard video and route progress marked as each section is completed. The robots are fully electric, and the company points to lower risk of shading and of damage to panels and cabling. β See the postβ Open Roles
